History

Established in 1998.

Mr. Rooter Plumbing opened May 1, 1998. It is a family owned and operated franchise serving El Cerrito, Albany, Kensington, Berkeley. Oakland, Alameda and San Leandro. Currently there are 5 journeyman plumbers and 1 that is currently enrolled in the plumbing program to become a certified journeyman plumber. The owner is a master plumber. The office is open  from 7AM -6PM Monday through Friday and Saturday from 8AM -4:30 PM. We are a 24/7 company.

Steve first "officially" began his career as a plumber in 1972. He began working for his uncle who owned Jevons Plumbing in Berkeley at this same location. Steve completed the apprenticeship program and then in 1984 when his uncle retired, Steve bought Jevons Plumbing. Steve's wife, Sandy, at that time came to the office as well. Together they ran the company along with 3 other plumbers. In May of 1998, is when they decided to roll their business into the Mr. Rooter Plumbing franchise. Becoming a franchisee was a good business decision. It allowed them to be able to become a state of the art plumbing business with access to all the latest and greatest equipment for all plumbing situations. It allowed for education and training on using trenchless sewer applications, sewer lining , video inspections of sewer lines, hyrdo scrubbing lines with 4000 psi of water presssure, locating sewer lines under ground as well as continuing to provide full service plumbing to all their customers.
